I was happy with Wella Demi Color Charm from Sally's, 5N (made my hair dark brown).+++
Didn't fade (much), just redid when my roots grew in. But aim lighter than you anticipate. Again, I was a 5N and had dark brown (almost black) hair.

It does contain Bis-Aminopropyl Dimethicone (supposedly this silicone doesn’t build up). Purchased at Marshalls for $15.
