I have a similar bob. I have very fine hair and am closer to 2a-2c. ++
I need the layers to avoid triangle head and make my curls pop. (But never want too short of layers)

I bet you could get your hair to 2C waves with some curls thrown in. If it’s wavier are the top rop

I typically use a combo of ogx curling cream and a (any) gel. I have 2B hair so it sometimes needs some coaxing into a curl (hence the gel). It is a r
