I think this depends on how fine or thick your hair is. I have fine hair and find I can get a one
pass at about 365 degrees F. This is the temp of the GHD I use

sedu 4000 is my fave. I have an Elchim, I don't really care for it when straightening my hair
to tends to create more frizz. I also have a GHD..it's OK at best.

I like GHD and CHI. I have more volume with CHI. GHD really straightens my wavy, frizzy hair.
