Try using a gloss. DpHue and John Frieda have good ones. That will give some depth of ++
color in the short term. It will color over the hot roots to help them blend in. I'm not a colorist or a stylist but I have been coloring my roots at

I use the dphue gloss in dark brown to boost my color. It's pretty dark and does stain. I would++
guess it would be difficult to bleach if you used it a lot in black.
