You mentioned he sweats a lot so I'd assume he's more on the oily side. One foundation that IME+
is undetectable and buildable, also with quite a good shade range and not too expensive and suitable for oilier skin type is Urban Decay Stay Naked.

Try an eye primer. I use Laura Mercier Eye Basics. BB & Trish McEvoy have eye primers. ++
Urban Decay does too but if your issue is darkness on eyelids Urban Decay did not work well on me at all.
