When I had a major issues, you have to use the old school stuff as much as possible++
Vaseline, Aquaphor maybe CeraVe Ointment. But my derm rec'd Vaseline when my lips freaked out and it was all I could use for weeks till my lips calme

Apply rich eye cream first, then seal with balm. I love the gwp size +
eye creams as they fit well in my mu bag. I like aquaphor as a topper.

2nd. In order of thickness from thickest to thin, it goes IMO: Aquaphor, Vaseline, Cerave Ointment

I don't know about the consistency difference but I use +
Cerave Healing Ointment over Vanicream Moisturizing Cream at night. I can't use Aquaphor or Vaseline on my face
