He might try zinc pyrithione and/or Lotrimin Ultra (it has to be the Ultra) +
Nizoral didn't help my SD at all but zinc pyrithione did. Nizoral is drying as well so maybe some vaseline or something incredibly bland might help as

some Vaseline or Aquaphor on top you'll seal in the moisture; on their own they don't do much because they're (semi)occlusives.
