The Jergens Soap Company was founded in 1882 by Andrew N. Jergens Sr. and Charles Geilfus in Cincinnati, Ohio.* The company's first offerings were moisturizing lotions for women; those continue to be the best-selling products for the label. It is owned by Kao Corporation, which purchased Jergens in 1988. Its' personal care products are widely available in large retail and drugstore chains nationwide.
