L'Artisan always does a really good job with woody fragrances, and Timbuktu is no exception. on me, the pink pepper and myrrh come out gently over a deep woody base that has so much richness to it...

Shockingly, jarringly awful. I don't recall ever having given any other fragrance a "1" before, but this one certainly merits the rating. It's possible that I overapplied it while trying it out...

VERY Cedar-y. Reminiscent of my Hamster cage of years past. Maybe some top notes of spices, but I must've missed 'em. Ho-hum.

Not horrible at all but nothing special. I smell woodsy pine, cedar and some cumin I guess accounting for the subtle and not horrible sweat smell others have mentioned. Not bad, not good.

Another "not for the timid" scent. I have many reviews that panned this one. Smells great on me. Well, at least I think so. I tried it on my skin a few days ago and could not help sniffing my wrist...

Hmm..possibly one of the dullest, most uninspiring perfumes I had ever sniffed! Everyone who described it below as being dull and uninteresting are right on the money. It truly is quite ordinary....

Wow, I am apparently in the minority, but I kinda dig it! Now, to be fair, I also love patchouli, myrrh, peppers, etc, etc, so this is up my olfactory alley anyway. On my skin, this scent is a...

I couldn't wait to smell Timbuktu! Too bad for me that it smells like a Yankee pine scented candle gone awry. Biting, piny, soapy clean scent that may be ok as a man's fragrance but it's not for...

Masculine- yes, that's the best description in one word. Timbuktu deserves two lippies for not being the worst scent I've applied to my skin, but no more than that. As with many L'Artisans, I...

I expected Timbuktu would be very controversial and unusual, a real love-it-or-hate-it scent, from the stuff I'd read---something like Muscs Koublaï Khan, Eau du Fier, Tubereuse Criminelle, or...

I didn't think that L'Artisan could make a terrible fragrance, but somehow they've managed to do so with Timbuktu. The selection of individual notes is an atrocity, the blending sloppy. It smells...

When I saw the notes in this, I couldn't wait to try it. Mango and incense! Well, at first it smelled like the same incense they use in Passage d'Enfer, and I liked it for that reason. Then it...

Yikes! So here I am, waiting on Timbuktu to be released. Heading on over to Saks Fifth Avenue after buying some wine at Whole Foods, and I see the pretty L'Artisan Parfumeur bottle with a bright...

Starts off with a bit of promise--woody overtones, slightly herbal and clean green (but not balsamic green; think green fruit rind and vetiver). Not as KAPOW! exotic as you'd wish (not even a...

Sour, peppery wood. I had high hopes for Timbuktu, but this was the final verdict: sour, peppery wood. It reminds me of a scent I can't quite place -- a Villoresi, perhaps, or an MPG? Maybe...

Boy, this stuff is NASTY! It's raunchy, loud, DIRTY vetiver-patchouli-and-pepper filled stuff. I hate myself for loving it! But saints help me, I DO love it, like I've loved no L'Artisan...

Timbuktu is one of L'Artisan's stronger scents. It is smokey and spicy, and prominently smells of vetiver. The patchouli is lighter here, and comes forward more as the fragrance unfolds on your...

When I saw that "karo-karounde" was listed as one of the notes for this fragrance, I was eager to try. Alas, I do think that this would be more of a men's scent, it just did not work on my skin. ...

I had such high hopes for this; I couldn't wait to receive my sample. What a disappointment, it smells like the breath of someone who has been eating meat and spices. It made me ill.

I am not at all sad to say that this is another disappointment from L'Artisan. It smells mostly of weak vetiver. I like vetiver in perfume but not when it's this dilute. The marketer's did a great...
