Pineapple hair hurts my hair, so, ironically I loosely twirl my hair and use a clip or clamp
(Which doesn’t hurt my hair). However, next morning after brushing if I cannot brush and go, I will blow the top of my hair if there’s a kink.

IME as long as you have a decent quality flat iron, getting straight hair is pretty foolproof ++
I also have a weird mix of straight and wavy hair, and it’s a lot easier to straighten the wavy parts than get the straight parts to hold a curl ;) A
