TANAÏS imagines fragrance, beauty and jewelry as expressions of ritual, adornment and ancestors. Inspired by the process and research that has gone into my next book, IN SENSORIUM: Notes for My People (HMH 2022), which explores scent, sensuality, South Asian and Muslim perfume cultures, colonization and its aftermath: the environmental and border crises around the world. Each good is designed as a talisman, precious and life-affirming, made from rare and gorgeous materials.
