Desitin rash ointment was first manufactured in the 1930's by Johnson & Johnson. It contains the highest amount of zinc-oxide you can get over the counter. Zinc-oxide provides a barrier between the skin and wetness and also acts as an anti-inflammatory. It's most often recommended as a treatment for diaper-rash, but also helps with scrapes and burns.
